6 Reasons to Give a Hoot! Social Media Marketing for Business
Posted by dan ronken
I never thought I would end up writing about Twitter software but the inspiration hit me this morning because I've found HootSuite 2.0 to be very useful. This new version was just released yesterday to its current customers.
Even though Tweetdeck and Seeismic appear to be the dominant players in Twitter desktop applications, I've never been much of a fan, and found them to be 'less than' user friendly when working with more than one account. This post is simply to provide you with my first impression HootSuite 2.0.
1. Not Only Columns But Personalized Tabs as Well
The column layout was a beautiful creation. HootSuite added tabs as well which makes it easier to navigate between accounts, keywords you're tracking, or whatever else that is important to you.
2. Nice Visual I.d. When Sending From Multiple Accounts
I have an original Twitter account (using a nickname - not so wise) that I'll slowly be merging into my account using my real name (better idea). When using other applications, I've inadvertently sent tweets to the 'wrong' account. The profile pics and account designation from where to send the tweet, seem to be much clearer to me in HootSuite.
3. Super Easy to Embed and Customize Columns
Take my example below. I easily embedded this customized column from HubSpot into the body of this post (full disclosure - I love HubSpot and I plan on partnering with them soon). I was even able to make it their brand color, orange, just by a couple of clicks.
4. Statistical Tracking
Great first impression with the statistical tracking feature within this software. You can view the number of clicks per day, see a geographical pie chart of hoo's (haha) clicking on your tweets, and measure individual tweets by using their URL shortener.
5. Easily Edit Groups
Click and drag contacts to and from groups. Enough said.
6. RSS Feed from Blog
You can add new RSS feeds from your blog and customize how you want HootSuite to distribute them.
Here's a HootSuite 2.0 five minute video demonstration.
It's been less than 24 hours since this release and I have not invested a lot of time with this software, but I wanted to give my friends a heads up.
Just another tool in an to help you easily manage twitter relationships. Especially for my biz peeps, in an attempt to help with social media marketing for business. Go ahead, check this software out and then come back and add to this list of things I've surely missed.
